Channel Islands Field Trip
Imagine being told you had the opportunity to do things you've never done before and embark on an adventure unlike any other. Imagine that you had the opportunity to visit a Californian gem that less than .5% of all Californians had ever visited. Thanks to a very generous $33,000 Whale Tail Grant from the California Coastal Commission students from Mrs. Lucero's AP Biology and Lab Bio 2 classes were able to do just that-- Visit the Channel Islands for the trip of a lifetime. Students took a ferry to the islands for a three day and two night trip and learned about the history and native people of the islands as well as the unique land and marine life found there. Students were able to camp, hike and kayak and gained an understanding of and developed a deep and profound connection with the coast. The marine life they saw provided an incredible display of the beauty of the ocean. Next time you renew your registration/license plates please consider getting Whale Tail plates- that money goes to provide marine trips and education for thousands across California!
